What is SWOT Analysis? Give Example of 2 analyses?

 SWOT stands for strength, weakness, opportunities and threats. It is the framework that is used to analyze the strength, weakness, opportunities and risk of the company. It gives a realistic, data based review of a company.

Components of SWOT:


  • STRENGTH

Strength describes a company plus points and how they are separate from other brands. For example their easy to use technology, latest updates, attractive designs.

  • WEAKNESS

Weakness describes a company negative points or we can say where the company need to improve in upcoming years. For example, if they are lagging in technology, than they should update their technology.

  • OPPORTUNITIES

Opportunities aries from external environment, such as emerging markets, innovative technologies, evolving customer preferences, or shifts in industry trends. Recognizing and seizing these opportunities is similar to having a treasure map that guides your business in planning strategic moves to attain those valuable rewards.

  • THREATS

Threats refers to the external forces that have potential to destroy or harm your business.

2. Customers data security concerns.

3. Easy to copy business model.

4. Lack of physical stores.

  • OPPORTUNITIES

1. Asia and South America could be target markets where Amazon does not exist. By entering such markets, Amazon may diversify its revenue and reduce its dependence on specific markets or items.

2. In physical shop expansion, Amazon can attract new customers and compete with established retailers by creating physical shopping experiences.

3. Launch of Amazon Clinic – A Virtual Healthcare Service.

  • THREATS

1. Fake reviews have hit Amazon.

2. Amazon faces continual cyberattacks as a data-centric company. 

3. Hurricanes and earthquake can interrupt amazon operations.

4. Amazon may pay more for labor due to global minimum wage rules. The corporation may lose money if it cannot raise pricing or minimize costs.
